In terms of communication, employees from any position are responsible for speaking the language they need to do their job. To this end, we have a number of online resources that help to communicate with translators which makes our work easier and faster. While there are different companies that provide such tools, a few of my favorites that I can personally say is: Translator’s Guild, JOTAC.
In today’s competitive industry where business depends on every second of your time, remote employees require a lot of time to travel and to communicate with the company you work for.
To maintain a top productivity level during any given shift, translators must engage in regular contact with their company. As you become a remote employee, you will have to be on the lookout for your employer’s communication protocols as your work style changes. It gives you a tremendous advantage in your career as you can communicate better with everyone on the go.
From the translation world, when it’s talking about remote workers, it’s almost synonymous with translation jobs. In this industry, you do all of your own work. You go over to the translation company to translate documents and then once the project is completed, you deliver the translation to the customer, in your own language. There is little difference in these two scenarios. It’s just for convenience sake when it comes to our careers as translators/translators.
Telling someone about the value of your services should come naturally on any job. However, the opposite is also true if you are being told that you are overworked. Being a translator does not come easy, there needs to be a certain level of dedication, motivation, perseverance, skill and above all; patience. As a translator it is not easy to remain indifferent or to keep your emotions in check.
To have a successful partnership with a translator, you must be available and willing to put forth a higher level of effort. As the translator you need to meet the clients expectations in communication, grammar, editing, proofreading, and more. We all have to understand how to convey and understand the work of words. The more you practice, the better your communication skills will get. A great translator is one who has worked together with her employer for years and understands how their company does business.
Translation is a career that can be a dream job or a nightmare, depending on how you look at it. Being able to speak another language is a great asset and one that really does make you feel like a real professional. While we can all dream of changing our lives from one day to another we must remember the importance of working for yourself. This in turn helps you focus on what you want from life.
