It’s quite popular and it has even been referred to as the new Word. But is it truly the new Word? Actually, it’s an ancient and widely accepted animal’s name that’s slowly, but surely, being given a new lease on life. The latest is the “Botanical Name” of an endangered plant- It’s the name given to the common species of South American pitcher plant which is native to the Ecuador and Colombia’s mountain terraces.

To say its a well accepted animal name is an understatement. Its a beautiful red colored herb. Its called the “tarantula plant” because it looks like an angry, long coiled spider with one or two long thin green legs. Its called the “red pitcher plant” because some of the stems are red and some are purple. It can be found growing on the Amazonian terraces.

The Botanical Name to a Pitcher Plant is actually not as uncommon as you could think. The Latin root and stem concept of the name is derived from the name given to the flowers of the pitcher plant. Its not very interesting, but if you’re only interested in plants then this is the name to study.

The Botanical Name of an endangered plant Old blog: This is a popular term, but the botanical name for the red pitcher plant is not as common as many believe. That is, it is known to have a fairly low percentage of species as its referred to. One name in particular, the “Rough-leafed Mantis” is actually the common name given to this pitcher plant which is found only in the mountains and jungle of Peru.
