Butterflies are a member of the Order Lepidoptera, a family of over 500,000 species of tropical and sub-tropical butterflies with more than 10,000 named species. One of the most common and recognizable butterfly species is the monarch. The monarch is a caterpillar that feeds on sap in the tree sap.
