I know we are late this year but there was not a full month where we didn’t have a #CultureBombs Twitter Party and I know you’ve all been patiently waiting since we launched this podcast to get some of these. The main thing I want to mention about the CultureBombs Twitter Party is that I will be recording the event on Saturday for the next issue of CultureBombs, so keep your wallets ready.
I am not in the least bit surprised that the Japanese pop culture culture has grown more ‘trendy’ and ‘male dominated’ than it did during my time living in Japan. I remember as a little kid growing up in California reading manga and manga magazines, and there were many male manga covers. I also remember watching anime as well and the gender-neutral covers in the first season of the first anime, Naruto.
But before we do that, I wanted to just say that there are plenty of amazing female characters in anime. One of my favorite female anime characters of all time is Chiho Sawaguchi from the anime “Attack on Titan” and I am so happy that I got to follow her throughout the series. She is such an ideal feminist hero. One of the few women who are able to overcome such societal prejudices as gender differences and get stronger by overcoming them through her own strength.
In an epic Japanese comic series, a powerful feminist battle is taking place on the streets of Tokyo. As the city struggles to maintain order, the women in this battle will learn the powerful art of self-sacrifice. By fighting together, you will break apart a patriarchal society that is slowly being dismantled before our very eyes. The women in this fight have the power to change things forever. No man will ever defeat them.
How to choose your dream job Old blog: The dream you have been pursuing for years or even decades may finally be over. New blog: The biggest hurdle in achieving a dream job is that it is difficult to say when that dream has shifted and what your ideal career would look like.
The key to getting your dream job is figuring out just what you want. We talked about this several months before the big move to Seattle. The main things that you need to know are that what you have dreamed as kid, as a teenager, if it made you feel fulfilled and confident, what do you want to accomplish in your career, and what you should think of when deciding what you wish to pursue professionally.
It is important to have what you think you need. While it is extremely important, you also need to know that what you really want to do is be the best you can so that you can meet or fulfill your dream.
