The appling County Board of Education (BoE) is a body which deals with policy making in the county. This includes policy relating to education, health, and other areas of local government. The board of education is also responsible for the management of the school system.
The appling BoE has a lot of responsibilities. For one, it is the agency which oversees the county’s system of public schools. Secondly, it is also the agency which regulates the school district, which is a collection of several smaller school districts. The district is the local school district which is responsible for the running of any schools within the district’s boundaries.
Like any government agency, the board of education is in charge of the school district, making sure that the district meets its stated mission and objectives. This includes things like ensuring that the district is run efficiently, that there are no gaps in the district budget, and that the district is transparent.
All of these things are important, but especially transparency is incredibly important for any student. In order to fully understand the district’s financial situation, you have to know which schools are getting the most or the least out of their school funding. School district transparency is especially important if you have a student who lives in the district and attends one of the schools which is not transparent.
The district is transparent because it is the county board of education. It is actually more important than that because it is the actual voters of the district who will ultimately determine the district’s revenue.
You can check each district’s transparency in your county, but if you check for school districts, you can only see that district’s revenue amount. If you want to actually get a pretty good idea of how a district is doing in terms of their school funding, you have to check each board member’s transparency.
If you want to read more about that district, you can go here, and here is a link to read more about one of the most important members of the board, board member Mike Kline.
Kline is the only district board member who actually serves on the education committee, which is where he serves on a committee that’s in charge of making sure that every district that participates in the State’s school funding system is on the same page. One of the board’s primary concerns is ensuring that every district has a reasonable amount of school funding, so Kline is always up-front about how the district is doing.
This past year, Kline’s district spent about $1 billion on education. That’s a lot of money, which means that he’s going to have a lot of work to do to ensure that every district has a reasonable amount of school funding. But as much as Kline tries to get the districts on the same side, there isn’t always agreement. He’s currently up in arms about the fact that the district is going to spend $1.
1.5 billion dollars or so, on education in 2011. Thats an awful lot of money.
