I mounted the scope to a Mossberg Patriot Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. As advertised, mounting the scope was very easy. The included bubble levels made keeping the scope level a piece of cake. Then all I had to do was wait until I could take to the range. In addition to the incredible features that you find with this scope, the Ascent Reticle is effective and simple. The clarity of the glass is superb and is one of the clearest scopes I own.
The red upon the target popped and was deep and rich. Colors didn’t look muted or as if the lost a touch of vibrancy as you looked through the optic. The overall image of my target was clean and crisp which I enjoyed.
When looking through this optic the image clarity and fidelity are on point, as I mentioned earlier in this review. When, looking through the optic nothing is washed out on a bright day. The image through the glass looks natural, bright, and sharp.
Having your parallax set correctly at the target distance is the preferred way to shoot. Eager to get to the range, I loaded up a few hundred rounds of ammunition and took off down the road. Once set up on the range it took a little bit to get the scope where I wanted only due to the inaccuracy of my boresight.
I have never shot out 1,000 yards before and I was able to put rounds on target with this optic. Finally, I’ll touch upon eye relief and field of view. I will admit I had weatherhead federal credit union some challenges finding good eye relief initially with this optic. I just know sometimes I would get on it and I could obtain eye relief easily and sometimes I could not.
The eye relief of the scope is 3.14” – 3.22” inches. I placed the scope adequately away from my eye with my buttstock in the fully extended position, where I usually use it. Likewise, on full power, the Ascent Reticle is chunkier but still easy to use. I have several scopes that have a hair width of detail in the final stage of the crosshair. In the Genesis 4-14 there was no such reduction in the very final stages of the crosshair. In conjunction with sighting in in the scope, this was my first time using the White Label Armory 16-inch upper receiver. Once the barrel broke in, the groups became tighter and tighter. On the second day at the range, I was able to shoot consistent, tight groups.
