It is easy to make a sale, or make out with a customer, or have a conversation with a customer, or engage in a meeting all of the time. The trick is to make sure that what you sell is what the buyer wants or needs.
I think it’s all about what the customer wants or needs. The process of selling is very much like that of a doctor’s office. You try to find the best solution for the patient, the best way to treat their ailment, the best way to address their physical or emotional needs, and the best way to solve their financial worries.
I’m not sure I’d say that selling is a very high-pressure job, even though there are some people who do it all the time. I don’t believe that selling is inherently harder than other sales jobs. In order to sell products, a salesperson has to convince a prospect of their products’ value. In order to sell a product you have to persuade the customer to part with their money. It is not at all uncommon for salespeople to be told to “sell more” and then tell their customers to “buy more.” This is not what sales is all about.
Sales is one of those things that we think of as being a glamorous profession, but I would argue that the job of a salesperson is one of the most stressful ever. You have to constantly push people away, you have to constantly convince people to part with their money, and you have to continually convince yourself that you’re getting it right.
In a way, I think Sales is a form of self-awareness. In a perfect world, we would all be aware of the fact that we were getting ripped off, but the reality is that you can’t always be sure that you are getting your money’s worth. It’s always better to know that youre making a mistake before you go down in flames.
Sales as a tool for self-awareness is the key to selling yourself. If you want to achieve that, buy your own copy of the game.
I think I am a bit biased because I really like the game, but I think it helped me to understand the way I should be selling myself. I’m not saying I should have no fear of going wrong, but I need to know that I am making a mistake or not. In the end, the only thing that I can control is my actions, and when I make a mistake, I need to be aware of it and take the appropriate actions to correct it.
You can control the extent to which you sell yourself. If you want to be your own boss, buy the game. If this appeals to you, then you should make more sales.
