At first I was embarrassed about the way I talk and act. I was embarrassed that I had to go to a party and be loud. I was embarrassed that I don’t really have any hobbies or passions. But if I take the time to write it all out, it becomes clear that all of this has made me excited and at ease.
This is a rare human trait. For a while I was embarrassed that I was in a band and I was going to perform an amazing song live. I was embarrassed that I wasn’t a comedian or a singer. And the worst part is that it wasn’t a matter of if I was going to make it, it was just a matter of when. I wasn’t embarrassed because I had no idea how good I was at it.
When you have a hobby or passion, it sounds like a great idea to give yourself a deadline. But the thing that kills it is the idea that you will accomplish it because you have no idea how. There was one day when I was in the middle of writing my novel and I was like, “I have no idea how I’m going to finish this.” I had no goal in mind, I wrote a chapter, and that chapter was done.
As any writer will tell you, the first draft of your novel is usually very rough and contains many holes. For a writer to get truly excited about their work, they need to know if they can get through the first draft without a major hiccup.
As a writer, it’s also important to remember to take a step back and be grateful. I’m sure you’ve been there. As an aspiring novelist, you’re also in a similar position as a writer. The first draft is probably the worst draft you’ve ever written. You probably have a couple of chapters that are rough and you’re writing a chapter for each day of the week.
The fact is that writing a story is a process that takes work. Even if youve done it for years, you just need to take a step back and look at what youve done and say, “Hmmm… I’m not sure if Im strong enough to continue on for this draft.

I also can’t believe that the last time we were on a date, we never did an activity that we talked about. A lot of people talk about their hobbies and I can’t think of one that I would really suggest anyone try out.
When you talk about hobbies, you’re really talking about something that you don’t do every day, but something that you do every day. Maybe you can’t do it every day because you’re out of work or you’re too tired and/or busy to do it on a daily basis, but at least you do it on a regular basis.
I can’t really think of any hobbies that I would recommend to people, so I can’t say that I follow through with anything about them.
