I was in a sales call with a prospective homebuilder and the sales manager started asking questions about my home’s paint colors and what was available for the exterior. I was a bit miffed. Did I really have to paint my new construction home? I had my doubts. I told the sales manager that I had never painted my own home, and that I knew very little about it. The sales manager looked at me and said, “Well, I just don’t know.
It seems that the sales manager was not interested in talking about the paint color choices that he had on his own houses. He wanted to know about what I knew about my own paint colors. I told him that I had never painted my own house, but I could tell him some about my own paints and what I had tried on my own home. I told him that I had painted my own exterior before too, but I didn’t like the results that I got.
I want to see how the sales manager’s paint colors actually look, but I suspect that he probably doesn’t know what he is looking at. I suspect that the sales manager’s home would look like it was painted by a guy with a brush in his hand and a lot of paint on his hands. I suspect that the sales manager’s home would look like the inside of a house that is a little too dark to be a home.
The sales managers do the same thing. They paint a white and gray color to indicate that they are not doing something bad (for example, the color of the wood inside a house is black, but the wood inside a house is white).
There is a subtle difference between the sales managers and the homeowners. The sales managers don’t know they are doing anything wrong. They don’t know all the rules and they don’t know how to hide it. The homeowners on the other hand do know that they are doing something wrong, but they don’t care because they are happy to be living in a house that is painted white and gray.
That is the problem for the homeowner. They dont know what the sales managers are doing, and they dont care. They have no idea that they are doing something bad or wrong. Therefore they are able to get away with anything. It’s like the sales manager tells the homeowner, “Hey, you must not have noticed that the house had dark blue trim everywhere,” and then the homeowner goes ahead and buys the home and paints it completely white.
One of the first things the sales manager will do is create a “black box” test.
The sales manager then goes to the yard and looks at the black box and says, No sale. This is just a good thing, because if your house is white and you have a black box it means there is not a sale.
Most of the time a black box test is a fake, but sometimes they’re real and they’re used to determine whether a sale is good or not. A sales manager has to be honest with their clients about how much they’re willing to spend on their homes, and this is why sales managers are the absolute best salespeople for home-buying.
