Well green tea is also light, but has a much more flavor and sweetness. Pai Mu Tan white tea is stronger, often with fresh hay notes and yellowish color, but never as strong as the strong green tea – for example Gunpowder. Keep in mind though, even if you are using more tea leaves per cup of water, you should not use boiling water for white or green tea. That’s why the total amount of caffeine will be lower in the tea you make at home than it was in the this study.
Ideally, the water should be 170–185°F (75–85°C). Avoid using boiling water because it can ruin the delicate flavor of white tea. There are also several human studies that have linked drinking tea with a lower risk of both diseases. In one study, scientists discovered that specialty drinks like a long island applying white tea extract to the skin helped protect against the harmful effects of the sun’s UV rays . Two more test-tube studies looked at the effects of white tea on colon cancer cells . Several test-tube studies have found that white tea may have anticancer effects.
Both teas have similar levels of caffeine and catechins like epigallocatechin gallate , a compound in green tea linked to burning fat. Together, these compounds seem to have a synergistic effect . Green tea is often the first tea that comes to mind when you think of teas for weight loss. While test-tube studies are promising, more human-based research on white tea and its antioxidant benefits are needed. Fun fact – white tea is one of the most delicate teas and is known for its fragrant taste. The best white teas are white peony, darker shou mei, silver needle, and tribute eyebrow.
