As we’ve mentioned before, Rogues are highly gear dependent on their gear. Rogues are heavily dependent on their gear for DPS output, which is why it’s more essential to keep their gear up to date with this class than with others. This may be a good option for players who are trying to level up on a server that supports PvP. Leveling as Subtlety isn’t as effective as Combat as your DPS output will not be much higher. All three Rogue types have similar strengths and weaknesses in the sense of their ability to level. Set is only slightly behind our recommended Pre-Raid bis gear.
Although Subtlety and Assassination have their supporters, Combat is the clear winner when it comes to DPS output and the flexibility. This is a brief analysis of all three specs along with reasons why they do or do not excel as building for leveling. You will not crush through Nax at level 70 as easily as you¡¯d think and the rewards are garbage in comparison to what you can get in 5-man instances on normal. Nax bosses, with very few exceptions require that everyone play a key strategic role. You¡¯re not going to group up the Four Horsemen and AOE them at 70. Yes, Patchwerk will drop faster because of the extra DPS but believe me, if you don¡¯t have serious people working hard to heal and be in position, you will not take him down at 70.
You aren’t going to be behind the mob the entire 30 seconds. You aren’t going to be able to avoid dodge, parry, miss mechanics playing solo and facing the mob for at least 26 seconds if you are opening CS and maintaining SND going from mob to mob consecutively. Kill times are fast enough that deadly isn’t worth the trouble, especially if you need to gouge for some reason. If you are leveling sub it depends on what you are opening. If you are opening Ambush, you probably want double instant.
The best item is always the item that provides the most DPS, regardless of the specific stats it provides. While you can Mutilate with Stealth during an initial attack you’ll need your opponent to focus on another area or target, or to use Cheap Shot or Kidney Shot combo points. This limits your ability to utilize other abilities that can deal DPS, rather than striking enemies with a stun. This is the Rogue leveling guide to Burning Crusade Classic!
Increases the damage done by your offhand weapon by 40%. Increases the damage done by your offhand weapon by 30%. Increases the damage done by your offhand weapon by 20%.
In Open World PvP, Stealth puts Rogues at a very advantageous spot if they are the aggressor as it lets them dictate the rules of engagement. As a matter of fact, Rogues can CC their PvP Target for over 30 seconds without a problem, with a combination of Sap, Blind, Cheap Shot, Kidney Shot, and Gougeabilities. Even though you can Mutilate is paddio legit with Stealth during an initial attack you will need the enemy to focus on another goal or use Cheap Shot or Kidney Shot combo points. This restricts your ability to make use of other skills that cause DPS, rather than stuning opponents. I actually did a Mace version of this because my maces are a lot better than my swords.
Though Shiv is not an exception to this rule, it is worth noting that it provides roughly similar damage regardless of spec, provides a combo point, and will automatically proc your off hand poison. This is important because when you have a 5-stack of Deadly Poison on a target and it falls off, you suffer a damage cost based on the amount of time it takes to refresh the stack. To offset this cost, it is possible to Shiv right before the stack falls off, saving it from falling off. This technique is not currently well-modeled, therefore it is difficult to say whether Shivving to save your DP stack is a DPS loss or gain.
As a result, it is often considered more powerful for combat rogues than andduring tier 6 progression. Although its power scales back somewhat against high armor bosses, it also scales with your gear level, to the point that when you reach the end of Sunwell, it may well be superior to theor. As always, consult a spreadsheet to determine the trinket’s exact value for you. Theis a potent trinket that scales well with other gear upgrades, typically retaining its status as best-in-slot for combat builds from T4 all the way through T6. However, the caveat is that haste rating does not scale with itself, while it does scale up most other stats.
Thederives much of its power from the 44 expertise rating it provides. However, for many rogues, this is nearly enough expertise rating to reach the expertise cap. Particularly, human rogues wielding swords or maces with Weapon Expertise will reach the cap simply by equipping the Shard. Thus, it is not worthwhile for a human sword/mace rogue to equip the Shard together with any other expertise item and Weapon Expertise. Consult the spreadsheet to determine which expertise item are best for you to equip in comparison with the alternatives available to you. For example, proves to be superior to[Merciless Gladiator’s Slicer], as the Talon has 6.5 more average damage in addition to superior stats.
You will find some people who are good at these roles but not many. I know some druids that are fantastic tanks for 5 man instances. I¡¯ve seen priests put up some decent numbers but it¡¯s pretty rare. I¡¯ve yet to see a shaman put up fantastic numbers. The lack of DPS will hurt you some, but the big pitfall is when you have you plus 4 healers in your group and none of them are specced for healing nor wish to play a healing role. You¡¯ll find instances in general to be a lot shorter with a couple of exceptions.
